On Wednesday, April 16, the Wallflowers played at the 2003 Volvo for Life Awards hosted by Jim Belushi. Hero awards were presented by Hank Aaron, Bill Bradley, Dr. Jane Goodall, Maya Lin, Dr. Sally Ride and Eunice Kennedy Shriver to three "hometown heroes"--Pamela Stack, Bao Xiong, and Robert Young. The Wallflowers played the 930 Club for the second time on the RLD tour but there were a lot of firsts in this set list:
--the tour premier of "Murder 1x1," (an earlier unreleased version of the later released "Murder 101." They played "Murder 1x1" a few times on the BDTH tour)
---the tour premier of "Shy of the Moon" (the first time they've played it in concert since early in the BDTH tour);
---an acoustic version of "Feels Like Summer Again" in the encore;
---the first-time ever playing "Bank Robber," a Clash song in the encore. Opener Ron Sexsmith joined the Wallflowers on that song.

The Wallflowers played for the Azalea Festival in Norfolk, Virginia on Friday, April 25th. Originally scheduled for outside at Town Pointe Park, the concert venue was moved due to weather to Old Dominion University's Constant Center. The venue change wasn't known by all, so the crowd was smaller than expected. But they were treated the band who came to play (in some strange wigs and hats!).
